Lake Michigan does not hold all of the outdoor fun that there is to experience in Milwaukee. There are plenty of things to do around the city.

• Live at the Center: So you need something that isn’t quite so rough on the wallet but satisfies your entertainment itch, go to the Marcus Center for Performing Arts Peck Pavilion. From June to August you can enjoy free music, dance and theater outdoors.

• Riverwalk: Want to stretch your legs and take in the view of Milwaukee. Put on your walking shoes and take a stroll down the redeveloped Riverwalk which connects downtown Milwaukee to the Historic Third Ward while providing a view of the riverfront.

• Schlitz Audubon Nature Center: If you find that you are enjoying your time in Milwaukee down by Lake Michigan than you have to make your way over to the Nature Center. There are 6 miles of nature trails and 185 acres of natural habitats so wear comfortable shoes. The Dorothy K Vallier Environmental learning center gives you a leaning experience with nature exhibits and classes.

• Milwaukee County Zoo: Are you feeling the call of the wild? The Milwaukee County Zoo invites you to visit. Bring the kids and spend time seeing the over 2000 mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, and amphibians with around 350 species. It is open 365 days so no matter what time of year you are in the city, the zoo is ready for you! Some of the seasonal attractions include a petting zoo, a Safari Train which takes you on a tour of the zoo, the Birds of Prey Theater, and the Oceans of Fun Sea Lion show.

• Festivals: Don’t forget about the festivals that are happening in Milwaukee all year round. Look into Summerfest, Polish Fest, German Fest, Irish Fest, Oktoberfest, and more. During the summer the night sky will be lit up with fireworks from the current festival so be sure to grab a spot by the lake in the evening and watch the lights!

• The Great Circus Parade: Children and those who are young at heart will be interested in the Great Circus Parade. Come see this parade at the showground at the lakefront. There are 75 historic circus wagons you can see up close for 5 days, as well as 750 horses. Take a ride on an elephant, camel or even a zebra. Enjoy the sights, smells, and performances of the circus under the big top too.

• Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory: Have an interest in plant life? The conservatory takes you through three very diverse types. The Arid Dome allows you to see the deserts of Africa, Madagascar, South America, and North America. In the Tropical Dome you will walk on jungle like trails. If you love color and flowers, you can’t miss the Floral Show Dome.

• Markets: Milwaukee encourages you to purchase fresh flowers and produce from local Wisconsin farmers at the numerous markets. Not only will you find fresh foods but entertainment as well. Just a couple of these markers for example are the Milwaukee Public Market and Fondy Farmers Market.

• Out to the Ballpark: Tailgate at the Menomonee River, eat a bratwurst, and settle in to your stadium seat for an exciting night of baseball. Miller Park is the home of the Milwaukee Brewers and is a great way to spend the evening in the city.
