The following are tips to help your photography experience go smoothly:
• Brides should keep photos in mind when applying makeup. Match your foundation to your neck color and stay away from foundations that have too much pink or orange coloring. Choose a matte finish in a soft and neutral color. Avoid using eye and cheek colors that are too bright. The light will make them look even brighter in photos. Matte lip colors photograph best. Shiny makeup reflects in photographs.
• Avoid jewelry that is reflective.
• Taking photos in the outside light tends to make you look washed out and direct sunlight casts shadows and creates lines. It is best to have photos taken in the shade and indoors.
• When posing for a photo, turn your shoulders at a three-quarter angle towards the camera, and turn your hips at a right angle to the camera.
• Be sure to get a good night’s sleep the night before so you look bright and well rested.
• Place a couple of disposable cameras on each of the tables at the reception for guests to take photos. Have printed instructions on each camera so the guests will take photos and then leave them at the reception. These may turn out to be some of your best photos because the guests may get some of the silly and romantic photos that the photographer could miss.
• The photography contract can be very complex. Be certain that you have a complete understanding of the quantity and size of prints you will be purchasing, when the prints will be available, whether you get any of the proofs and when they will be ready to be viewed, and how long after the wedding you will be able to purchase additional photos.
• Be certain that your wedding album is acid free. Acid eats away at the paper over the years and you want your photos to last for generations to come.
• Most important is that if you are relaxed, being yourself, and enjoying the wedding, it will reflect in your photos.
