What is the correct way to word a reception invitation?

Home » Weddings » Wedding Invitations » What is the correct way to word a reception invitation?

There are a few cases that you may choose to send a reception invitation separate from your wedding invitation. These cases might include if the reception is at a different time than the wedding, or if you choose to invite people to the reception only. Split invitations might also be a good idea if you have divorced parents, because then they would each get to send out an invitation. Reception invitations are also great if you would like to include a note about formal attire, such as black tie. Typically, no other dress code is mentioned.

The following is an example of a proper method of wording your reception invitation:
The pleasure of your company
is requested at the
wedding reception of
Kelly Piper Smith
and
Mr. John Mark Scott
Friday, the fourth of June
at two o'clock

(Optional: Black tie requested)
