Wedding Rehearsal
The wedding coordinator’s main job begins at the rehearsal. When so many friends and family members are gathered in one place, it can be a challenge to corral everyone and move them to the correct places. A wedding coordinator will take the reins and see that each member of the wedding party knows where to be and when to be there. They will act as a master of ceremonies, in a sense, providing leadership and direction to all the members of the wedding party.
The wedding processional and recessional are two of the most important parts of a wedding. A wedding coordinator will handle the logistics of accomplishing this grand, and sometimes complicated, portion of the ceremony. The coordinator will help place everyone and oversee how the wedding party enters and exits.
After Rehearsal Dinner
The coordinator may or may not be involved in the after rehearsal dinner. You might want to consider what your needs are for this event and ask for the coordinator’s assistance if you deem it necessary.
Wedding Day
On the day of the ceremony, the coordinator will be with you through every step. In addition, the coordinator will help the wedding party, clergy, florists, and photographers with all of their needs. He or she will likely have a kit of emergency items for any last minute needs, which could include anything from a needle and thread to club soda for removing stains.
Wedding Ceremony
The coordinator will act as a choreographer when the ceremony finally arrives. They will give instructions on when each wedding party member should walk down the aisle, as well as tell everyone where to go when the recessional is finished. The coordinator may also assist the photographer in any post-ceremony photos.
Reception
At the reception, the coordinator will work with the musicians and catering staff to facilitate the introduction and entrance of the wedding party, the cutting of the cake, the first dance, and the departure of the bride and groom.
