In the past, there were limited places to shop for wedding bands. You typically went to the neighborhood jeweler and made your selection from what they had in stock. That is no longer the case, and there are lots of options available:

Traditional Jewelry Store
Still the most common option, a traditional jewelry store is a smart place to shop for wedding bands. The salespeople tend to be very knowledgeable and willing to help you with your specific needs. They can accommodate special orders and will probably provide you with great customer service. They will be experts at the various types of metals, and they will probably not make any mistakes when sizing your finger. The only drawback will be the price. It might cost you a bit more to purchase a wedding band at a traditional jewelry store.

Department Store
Most major department stores sell fine jewelry, and they can be a convenient and easy place to shop for wedding bands. If you decide to shop at a department store, make sure you work with an experienced salesperson. Ask a manager whom they would recommend and choose someone who has worked in the industry for a significant period of time. Department stores can have a high employee turnover rate, and you could easily end up with an inexperienced salesperson. Watch for sales to get the best deal.

Discount Store
One of the newest places to buy fine jewelry is at a large, discount store, such as Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, or Costco. There are incredible values to be found at these types of stores. In this situation it is important to do your research and know what you are looking for. Their selection will be limited, but if they have what you are looking for, it can be a real find.

The Internet is a vast resource for finding wedding jewelry. There are endless websites, and you can find just about anything you are looking for. This is a great advantage if you are trying to find a rare or specific style, or if you are trying to match a style you have seen in a magazine or other printed material. Again, know what you are looking for before you begin. Make sure the website has a generous return policy in case you need to return or exchange your ring purchase.
