How do you find a DJ for your wedding?

This search for a DJ may be easier than you previously thought. The number one method is to go to the people you are currently working with. Most people that are planning a wedding will typically find a church, reception hall, and/or florist before they even think about getting a DJ, and the people that work in these businesses are probably your number one resource for a good DJ. The churches and reception halls have hosted these events before and know who you can look for and whom you should probably stay away from. A florist is also a good person to talk to. They are in the wedding industry, and connections are made in this industry just like any other. If you simply drop that you are still looking for a DJ, the florist will probably have a list of names for you. This goes for your photographers, wedding planners, and videographers as well; these people all probably have at least one or two names for you to try out. You can also talk to your friends that have had DJ’s for their weddings. If you loved the music that was played and way the DJ interacted with you, they might be a great fit for your wedding as well.

The number one step to finding a great DJ is to be prepared with knowing what you want and questioning the potentials. If you are looking for a high-class wedding and the DJ acts sloppy or improper during an interview this may not make sense. You should bring your intuition, your ear, your known wedding style, the logistics about the wedding, a song list, and as many questions as you can think of. This is not a shallow field. There are many DJ’s out there that you can pick from. Your DJ should fit your wedding like your wedding dress and honeymoon do.
