There are several choices for outdoor fun in Salt Lake City what ever time of year you pick to vacation there. Listed below are some of the outdoor attractions the area has to offer:
· Lagoon Amusement Park: Lagoon is an amusement park and water park in one. The park is a great way to spend the day in Salt Lake City. Some of the rides for the thrill seekers that Lagoon offers are Cliffhanger, Wildmouse, Fire Dragon, Samurai, and The Rocket. There are also tamer rides for those faint at heart and for the kids such as bumper cars, a merry-go-round, Wild Kingdom Train, and Stagecoach. Lagoon opens in April with limited hours and then opens full time in June. Admission prices are as follows 3yrs and under $19, kids 3 and up $28.95, adults $33.95, and senior citizens $22. Season passes are also available.
· Utah’s Hogle Zoo: The zoo is a great place to spend the day exploring different species of animals. There are countless habitats and exhibits inside the zoo as well as train that will take you around the zoo. Admission is $7 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-12 and senior citizens. Children 2 and under are free.
· Snow Sports: Salt Lake City is located at the base of two mountain ranges which makes it an ideal location for snow sports such as snow skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling. There are several area resorts that cater to the snow sport enthusiasts.
· Red Butte Gardens: This is the best in botanical gardens in the state of Utah. Red Butte Gardens is apart of the University of Utah and has over 1500 acres. The gardens are home to over 9,000 species of trees and shrubs.
· Temple Square: This is probably the most recognizable part of Salt Lake City. Temple Square is a historic part of the city and dates back to 1853. The Tabernacle at Temple Square is home to the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
