In 1995 Salt Lake City was selected and given the great honor to host the 2002 Winter Olympics. Sports complexes and arenas were built to house the games which brought many jobs to the city. The 2002 Olympics were a huge success, more than any other winter games at the time. The Olympics brought large revenues to the Salt Lake area. The arena’s that were constructed to hold the games are now used for Olympic training as well as other sporting events which continue to bring profits to the city.

The city of Salt Lake as well as the entire state of Utah continues to have high employment rates and also high economic growth. Salt Lake has even been ranked one of the best places in the country to do business. The city’s biomedical, technology, and software firms are among the best in the United States. It is also the headquarters for several large businesses such as: Franklin Covey, Overstock.com, Artic Circle Restaurants, and Smith’s Food and Drug (which is owned by Kroger).

Salt Lake City is also home to the Utah Jazz NBA team, the Salt Lake Bees a minor league baseball team, the Utah Blaze an arena football team, and they have also recently become home to a new Major League Soccer team. The University of Utah is also located in Salt Lake City and has several college teams with huge followings in the city.
