Train the trainer workshops face an interesting challenge in that the attendees may be involved in many different kinds of trainings with their employers. The common thread of course is that they all are prepare and hold trainings for employees. Accordingly, train the trainer workshops cover general training skills and are not topic-specific. These topics might include:
Public speaking: George Jessel said, “The human brain starts working the moment you are born and never stops until you stand up to speak in public.” Workplace training often involves giving speeches on various topics, so trainers need to be well equipped in public speaking.
Training design: What do you need to consider in preparing an in-house training seminar? What kind of format should you use? How much time do you need? Should you bring in keynote speakers or executives from the company to take part in training? Train the trainer workshops can help trainers address all these questions.
Promotion and follow-up: If your company offers optional training, you may need to motivate employees to attend training. How will you do that? Following training, how will you evaluate the training and provide additional training as needed?
Creativity: How could you step outside of the standard lecture format and make training more creative? Topics such as when to use humor, how to do role-play scenarios, and formatting roundtable discussions at training would fall into this category.
