San Antonio is one of America’s most culture-rich cities. It is home to two world-class art museums, the McNay Art Museum and the San Antonio Museum of Art. The former is in a gorgeous Mediterranean mansion with wide-ranging collections, while the latter is in a magnificent castle-like building and houses the magnificent Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Latin American Arts. Other outstanding centers for art appreciation in the city are the Blue Star Contemporary Art Center, ArtPace, the Southwest School of Art and Craft, and the Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center. The Majestic Theatre, nearing its 80th birthday, is the home of many Broadway shows and other concerts from world-renowned artists, and is the home of the San Antonio Symphony.
San Antonio also has a rich celebration of history. La Villita is the location of one of the original settlements in San Antonio, which was inhabited by Spanish soldiers and their families. You can also visit the Spanish Governor’s Palace, the San Fernando Cathedral, the Jose Antonio Navarro State Historical Park, and the Steves Homestead. Market Square, the largest Mexican marketplace anywhere in the world besides Mexico, is another popular attraction.
