In the last two decades, Downtown has been transformed from a virtual ghost town into a virtual hotspot for those seeking a thriving urban lifestyle. The main residential factor in this equation has been Harbor Town, the result of visionary developers who wanted to make the edge of the Mississippi home to families, singles and empty nesters alike. There are a variety of price ranges and housing options in the Downtown area as well as all of the amenities needed for a convenient lifestyle.

The Uptown edge of the downtown area provides smaller housing options right in the middle of the action. With sports, the arts, dining and shopping, there is rarely a dull moment in this area of the city. There are lofts, warehouse-style opportunities as well as smaller homes to widen the array of choices in this “real city” neighborhood.

Midtown is a fantastic and exciting place to live in Memphis. Just east of Downtown and West of the ‘burbs', it is the home of eclectic architecture and historic districts. There are also new home options in this area as well. Midtown is home to two of the best entertainment districts in Memphis, Cooper-Young and Overton Square, the Memphis Zoo, tons of specialty shops and eateries as well as the Brooks Museum. It is a “hoppin’” place to live in the big “M-town.”

East Memphis flows right into the multitude of suburbs that are the bulk of the residential areas of Memphis. Modern housing and nationally known retailers are scattered throughout suburbs. There are a plethora of options from Germantown, which used to be a bedroom community known for its horse shows, but is now one of the most sought after areas in Memphis, to Collierville which skirts the Eastern most part of the city with its rolling hills and farms.

The options are enormous in Memphis, but it is hard to go wrong with such an excellent city full of such well-developed neighborhoods.
