Knoxville is in a temperate climate zone. There are four distinct seasons and extended periods of weather extremes are rare in Knoxville. Spring arrives early in the year and stays around for a long time. Spring temperatures average around 70 in the daytime and 45 at night. The average summertime temperatures are 86 with a low of 64. Fall is a beautiful time in Knoxville with an average high temperature of 71 and a low of 48.

The average rainfall in the valley is 48 inches and about 12 inches of snow per year are average. The Great Smoky Mountains can have as much as 80 inches of rainfall during a year with up to 84 inches of snow possible.
