Pedestals as supports for other surfaces

Pedestals can be used as stand-alone tables, but also as supports for many other surfaces.

By placing two, three or four pedestals of the same height in an area and topping them with a smooth surface, a table can be created. In the garden they can be used to hold up a large piece of stone to form a cooking surface. They can also be used to support long, smooth pieces of wood to create bench seating or a side table for buffet-style serving. Wide, stone pedestals that are low to the ground can even be used to support your chiminea or fire pit.

Modular pedestals can be used to form a dividing wall in a large space or to create unusual seating in a garden area. But most often pedestals are used to add an element of height to a garden spot or against a high wall. And since they are as useful and beautiful indoors as they are out, they can be used in almost any space in or outside your home.

Inside the home, pedestals can create a bench to provide a place for putting on and removing shoes comfortably. They can also be used in adult or children’s rooms to form a bench at the end of the bed to provide occupants a place for sitting to make getting dressed a little easier.

In the entryway of your home, a pedestal can be placed beside the stairs with a nice bowl on top, giving you a consistent and easy place to drop your car keys. There is no end to the possibilities when using pedestals as both a functional and decorative element in your home. They are both strong and beautiful, adding a touch of history and an element of whimsy at the same time.
