If you’re looking for that “Wow!” set of tables to pull together your living room look, do a web search for “unusual end tables.” The variety is endless and the materials are even more so. A quick search can find end tables that are aquariums with glass tops so the fish can be seen from all angles. Any kind of drum can be used to create an end table, but there are also tables designed to look like all manner of drums and drum-like objects. One site offers “Z” table that, you guessed it, is shaped like the letter “Z,” although there might be a tendency for that shape to tip over if too much weight is placed on the open edge.

If your casual living area has a lodge-like appeal, tables with moose, elk and deer antlers as their base can be found easily. These glass-topped antler tables come in all sizes, but no two are exactly alike. The same concept would include driftwood tables with glass tops and burl (stump) tables with stone or glass tops.

One website, GiftsForHimOrHer.com, offered a marble and glass table that appears to have the dolphin leaping out of the glass. The dolphin above the glass gives the impression that the rest of the dolphin is under water.

If unusual is the look you’re hoping for, the internet can help you find it. But don’t let your budget trap you into a four-legged rectangle set of tables just because you think the eclectic and quirky tables are all too expensive. Graduated sizes of suitcases can become an end table. A pile of books can also double as an inexpensive end table. Colorful boxes piled one on top of the other creates a fanciful look for the ends of your sofa.
