Three typical things to do when you're looking for summer fun in the mountains are to fish, to hunt, and to go horseback riding. And why not? The mountains often have some of the most breathtaking views and incredible recreation areas anywhere. So whether you're looking for a challenge, a little time alone with Mother Nature, or just a chance to take it easy and breathe in the fresh mountain air, these are three fabulous choices:
• Fishing. Bait your hook (with real or fake bait, whichever's your fancy), throw out your line, and enjoy the wait. If you catch something, you can be sure to add a few pounds to the story before you tell your friends. If you don't - hey! Fishing's not really about the fish anyway.
• Hunting. Whether or not you really even want to aim for anything, hunting is often a way to experience nature in a way that few others ever get the chance. If you are out for the sport, though, make sure that you have a valid hunting license in the location you're visiting and that you take all necessary safety precautions.
• Horseback Riding. Another way to get out and see the mountains, horseback riding can be something you're really good at or something you've never tried before. Many companies offer simple trail rides for novices, while experienced riders may choose difficult and steep treks.
