One of the joys of spending part (or all) of your summer at the beach is the water and all the fun to be had in it! In addition to the traditional wading, splashing, and attempts at swimming, there are also a variety of water sports that have equipment available to own or to rent at many beaches. Here are some fun examples:
• Sailboating. What better way is there to spend your vacation at the beach than sailing across the water? Many beaches will rent sailboats; or, if you own one, you can generally store it for a monthly fee and have it towed to the beach when you're ready to use it. Warm water, cool wind, beautiful sights... here we come!
• Surfing. At many beaches, you can take surf lessons if you don't already know this fun water sport. Or just grab your board and go. Boogie boarding is also a fun beach activity.
• Windsurfing. Experience the waves as you're sailing over them, and try not to fall over! Whether you rent equipment or bring your own, windsurfing can be an exciting and challenging water sport, perfect for summer fun at the beach.
• Snorkeling. Snorkeling is the art of swimming through the water with a diving mask, a snorkel (which allows you to breathe with your face in the water), and often fins to propel you further. It is a very popular beach activity, especially in places where you'll be able to see reefs and underwater life. This can even be a great group event!
• Kayaking. Bring one, borrow one, or rent one; but by all means, try kayaking when you're looking for some summer fun at the beach. The experience is both fun and challenging, and it's great for races with friends. Plus, it's quite an upper-body workout!
Other fun options for playing in the water at the beach include jet boats, ski boats, pontoons, kite boarding, water trampolines, and so much more!!
