Once you start to prioritize all that you want to do and see in Charleston, your week’s itinerary will surely fill up quickly. If you are traveling with a group or a family, survey each of them to check on what they are interested in seeing. You could spend the week sampling a little bit of all that Charleston offers, or you could spend the week with one special type of activity such as touring old homes, buildings and churches or spend each day trying out a new golf course or relaxing on the beach. Charleston clearly has something to offer everyone.
The city is considered a “living museum” because of all the functioning historic buildings that are open to public viewing. You will do yourself a disservice if you don’t go into at least a couple of historic homes to see how the colonies lived in the Old South. Also, you should treat yourself to a day or two relaxing on the beach or spending the day golfing to get a feel for the natural beauty the landscape of this low country, its beaches and marshes has to offer. Or, take your time perusing through the wonderful art galleries that have some of the finest collections of Colonial art available on display and then check out a military museum. Whatever you choose to do, at the end of each day be sure and sample some local cuisine like baked cheese grits or fresh seafood that this area is so famous for. Regardless of what you decide, rest assured that every member of your group will be satisfied.
