People come to Charleston for a variety of reasons, and keep coming back to discover all the treasures that the different areas of the city hold. Mt. Pleasant is a National Register Historical District located across the Cooper River Bridge and is the site of several colonial homes. This area is also boasts the world’s largest naval and maritime museum at Patriot’s Point. The famous aircraft carrier, the Yorktown, is housed here as is Ft. Sumter where the Civil War began.
The Summerville area is known as the “Flower town in the Pines,” and once served as an area that plantations owners escaped to when trying to avoid the mosquito-infested marshes. This area alone has over 700 building on the National Register of Historic Places, as well as beautiful gardens, parks and charming neighborhoods.
The island resorts and beach towns of Kiawah, Seabrook, Isle of Palms, Sullivan’s Island and Wild Dunes are a vacationer’s paradise. These areas offer beaches, golf courses, tennis, bike and boat rentals, and great restaurants. These areas abound in rental properties to house as few or as many as your party needs.
