Other than the historic tours and beautiful landscapes, Charleston does have a “fun” side to it. With chic boutiques, traditional name brand stores and many, many antique shops, the shopping here is some of the best you will find. Popular shopping districts include the Old Market where you can find original hand-woven baskets and flea market finds, King Street that is lined with unique shops and antique stores, museum shops that offer handmade jewelry and art pieces and traditional shopping malls throughout the city that have upscale department stores and other name brand stores.
For some entertainment, you might head down to Aquarium Wharf to have a picnic lunch while taking in views of the harbor and the people. It is here that you’ll also find the South Carolina Aquarium that is definitely worth visiting.
Looking for some fun outdoor activities? Kids and adults alike enjoy Splash Zone and Splash Island that have water activities, slides, lazy rivers and pools that appeal to any age. Or, visit the Animal Forest at Charlestown Landing to see several different species of animals and birds. If you want to get out in the saltwater, take a Sandlapper Water Tour to see the city from a different angle.
