Replacing the Snowmobile Helmet

On average a helmet will last four to five years, if you use it during the winter months only. The one thing to think about is that the more you use it the more the helmet can get exposed to the elements, your body oil, perspiration, and other things. This forces the helmet to wear out. However, the liner is what goes first. If the liner wears out, just replace it. If the helmet shows signs of wear, use, or is cracked, replace it. You should definitely replace the helmet if it was involved in an accident.
