» Looking for the Right Shampooer
Before you think about purchasing a carpet shampooer, you need to consider some things. First of all what are your needs? Do you have wall-to-wall carpeting? If not, what room has the carpet and what size is the room? Or better yet, how large is the carpet? How deep does the carpet go? In other words, how thick is it? If you can answer these questions, you will be able to determine what type of shampooer you need.
· Tank Size: How large of a tank do you need? If the room is fairly large, you should get at least one that holds five quarts. This way you can cover the whole area. If you have wall-to-wall carpeting, you may need to consider a tank that holds more than six quarts, or get a commercial size one.
· How Much Power: The amount of power you need from your shampooer will depend on the size of the rug or carpet, and the thickness of it. If you have a thick rug or carpet, you will need one with a lot of power to suck up the most deeply engrained dirt. When purchasing your shampooer make sure to consider this so you get the right one.
· Portability: Is your shampooer one that you can take with you in the room so you can get to those hard to reach places? If it is an upright, does the surface clean a large area so you don’t have to spend a lot of time cleaning? Does it have a long hose attachment so you can clean hard to reach places? If it is a canister type, do you have a long hose to reach up the stairs? Or can you clean upholstery? Things to think about.
· Ease of Use: Along the lines of portability – can you pick up the machine and carry it to the room you need cleaning? Is the machine light enough to carry but yet strong enough to do the job? Does the machine have many attachments that go on easy so you can clean more than just the carpet? Your answers will determine the style of machine you get.
