Statistics show that only 15% to 24% of all skiers wear a helmet when they are on the slopes, despite the fact that most high adventure sports participants wear helmets. Ski helmets are integral to protecting skiers when they hit the slopes.

When purchasing a helmet, your first priority is to get the right size. Helmets that fit well are both comfortable and afford great protection. To determine the size of your helmet, wrap measuring tape around the top of your eyebrows. Your helmet size is found at the point of overlap. It is very important to remember that not every helmet fits the same! Even if you determine the right size of your head, your head shape will also affect the fit. There may be instances when you try on the right size, but due to your head’s shape, the helmet does not fit. In these instances, you may have to try on several different models before you get the perfect fit.

When wearing a helmet, align the front rim above your eyebrows and roll the helmet over the back of your head. Make sure that the back of the helmet does not touch the nape of your neck. There should be no gaps when wearing the ski helmet.
