The highest levels of competition are the Olympics and World Cup. However, there are competitions available at every level with a variety of distances to choose from, including a biathlon that combines cross-country skiing with rifle shooting.
The styles of skiing are declared for each race. There are races for Classic Skiing, races for Skate Skiing and the Double Pursuit combines the two. The skiers participating in the double pursuit make a “pit stop” half way through the race and change out their equipment to complete the race with a different style.
