Trying to find the right pair of skis to buy can seem like a daunting task. There are so many different types of skis presently available. From cross-country skis to race skis, it can be a bit difficult to know where to begin.

Ski technology progressed radically in the 1990s when contemporary materials and designs joined together in easy-to-use, high-performance skis. Originally, ski design was race-driven, so that most people skied on slalom skis. Today, however, the market is mainly driven by free-skiers who prefer many different kinds of terrain. It is a difficult task to even begin to categorize all the various skis available.
