Home » Skiing » Buying a Snowboard » What combinations of boots and bindings do I need?These are the types of boot/binding combinations available:
· Soft boots with strap bindings – This is the most flexible combination. Any soft boots can be used with the strap bindings. Freestyle and freeride snowboarders usually prefer this combination.
· Soft or hard step-in boots with step-in bindings – If you choose step-in bindings for your snowboard, you also will need to choose a pair of step-in boots.
· Hard boots with plate/lever bindings – This combination gives the most direct control over your snowboard. This is preferred by carvers.
In general, your boots should fit well, be designed for your snowboarding style, and go with the binding system you prefer.
