What are bindings?

Bindings are what keep your boots attached to the snowboard. Your bindings serve two purposes: keep you attached to you board and transfer your body movements to your board. Consequently, bindings are very important because they determine how much control you have on the board, how comfortable your feet and ankles will be, and how good you will be at performing tricks.

The two main types of bindings are: strap and step-in. Strap bindings are the original and most popular type. They are adjustable, secure, and comfortable. These have greatly improved and are designed to be lighter and stronger than ever before. These bindings are used with soft boots. Since the bindings give all the support you will need, the boots can be soft and comfortable.

Step-in bindings were originally created so that you could get into your bindings quicker than the original strap bindings. With these bindings, you simply step in with no need for tightening or loosening of straps. While these will save you time and can give you additional speed as well, there is a tradeoff when it comes to snowboard control.
