• How long does it take to get certified?
There is not a specific amount of time it takes to become scuba certified. Certification is based on the mastery of skills so you can go at your own pace. The average amount of time for basic certification is 3-4 complete days.
• How much does certification cost?
Just like anything else, you get what you pay for when it comes to scuba training. In addition to the price of the course, you will probably have to purchase classroom materials and rent or buy equipment. Look for places that advertise all-inclusive prices.
• Is the Instructor certified in first aid and CPR?
All scuba instructors must complete the rescue diver course, which includes first aid and CPR certification.
• Will I have to memorize the Dive Tables?
You will have to know how to use the dive tables. There should be a giant version of the dive tables posted in your classroom to make mastering them easier.
• Will the instructor be using the same gear as the students?
Your instructor should use the same type and brand of scuba gear that you use. This makes it easier for the student to understand and master the equipment.
• Will I get a discount on scuba diving after I am certified?
Most reputable dive operations will offer a discount to certified divers on diving activities and equipment purchases.
