Day Seven: Union Square

Spend your last day shopping in Union Square, the heart of San Francisco’s downtown since 1850. This is truly a shopper’s paradise as you will find a 2 ½-acre square with everything from upscale department stores to discount houses. Union Square was recently renovated in 2002 and with the renovation came an open-air stage and central plaza, a tree and flower-lined environment, and granite pedestals on which street musicians perform.

On the eastern edge of Union Square you can pick up half-price day-of-performance tickets at TIX Bay Area for various performing-arts events if you would like to sit back and relax awhile. Later, watch the sun set at one of Union Square’s sky-view lounges or eat dinner at the infamous Restaurant Gary Danko.
