» About Electric Remote Control Vehicles
What is told above gives you a little incite about the difference, now let’s delve into exactly what makes electric RC vehicles run, and why they are so popular.
· Battery Pack: As was stated briefly above, electric vehicles require batteries. In all cases they use a 7.2 volt battery pack that runs electric motors.
· Speed: Most electric remote controlled vehicles can reach speeds of up to 25 miles per hour, depending on configuration of the vehicle.
· Modifications: Electric remote controlled vehicles, particularly cars and trucks can be modified to run faster, simply by changing the motor, ball bearings, putting in more high powered batteries, and other changes.
· Accessories Needed: When you purchase an electric remote controlled vehicle, you will no doubt have to purchase extra accessories. These don’t come with the original purchase but are needed to run the vehicle. These accessories include the radio control unit, AA batteries for the transmitter, battery pack for the vehicle, and battery charger.
o Radio Control Unit – This is what controls the vehicle including its speed and direction. The radio control unit consists of a transmitter, receiver, two servos, batter holder for the receiver, on-off switch, and servo horns.
o AA Batteries and Charger – In order to operate the transmitter, you need eight AA batteries. It would be good to get rechargeable batteries this way you won’t have to keep buying batteries every time you use it for a short time.
o Battery Pack – In order to power the vehicle, it needs a 7.2 volt battery. In most cases, nickel-cadmium (NiCD) or nickel-hydride (NiMH) rechargeable batteries work best.
· Ready to Go: As was stated above, you can get remote control vehicles that are ready to go. However, in 95% of the time, you will find them in kit form, with having to buy the radio controller, battery, and charger as separate items. In recent times, manufacturers are realizing the implications of this so they are now selling everything in one kit.
