Like many major countries and nations, many were to experience severe economical problems due to wars or various other factors that during a common war environment this affected many nations and most of them in completely different ways.

It wasn’t until the 16th century that this happened and despite its high ranking as an official state, the country was under Spanish rule and the colonies were often attacked by the British and Dutch armies.

It was later decided by Phillip III to try and make Portugal part of the Spanish province and this resulted in many of the originally nobles losing their power to the Spanish. Due to all the problems, many Portuguese residents left for Brazil during the 17th century and it was to take major discussions to solve the serious problems between many of the feuding countries.
