AM and PM Activity
If you want to keep visiting historic sites with excellent architecture then another place that can offer this is the Angra do Heroismo in the Azores.
This area was once a major port of call from the 15th century and was one of the first places to benefit from steamship travel in the early 19th century. There are many historic monuments to visit and as the area was subject to many wars, there are excellent sights of military architecture that a lot of people don’t get the chance to visit.
With beautiful views to go with the history, you can have a really enjoyable day and if the weather holds out for you, the sea views that can be seen from the overlooking hills are breathtaking.
Dinner
If this is another area where you want to spend the whole day then there is one restaurant in the Azores that you must try and the cuisine available is traditional yet mouthwatering.
Known as the restaurant on the water, it is basically located close to a small river that runs parallel with the location and the food is outstanding with excellent service to boot. Reservations are not taken so it is best to turn up as early as possible and prices for a meal start from just $5 per head, per course.
