» Hose Clamps Overview
If you are working on any kind of hose, and more definitely, an outside garden, or industrial hose, you want to make sure there are no leaks. It would be wasting water if you fastened a hose or two to a pipe or faucet and found it to leak when you turned the water on. This will force you to unfasten the hose and find out where the leak occurred or why it leaked. You can keep this from happening simply by installing a hose clamp. You may not know it, or you may, depending on your profession and background, that hose clamps work by tightening the space around the inside of the hose. Hose having hose clamps is more than a bargain. They are a must when you are trying to install hoses. There are various kinds to choose from:
· Miniature Clamps: Good for the smallest of hoses and small applications. They are lightweight and are available as a stainless steel band, housing, and screw.
· Power-Seal Clamps: These are more general purpose industrial type clamps. They are made to be extra strong to handle industrial applications. The metal is smooth to allow for the most effective seal any clamp can give.
· Aero-Seal Clamps: These are made as worm-gear clamps. They are heavy-duty to last and come as four piece Quadra-Lock construction. Many applications that these types of clamps include industrial and aircraft.
· Euro-Seal Clamps: These are like the aero-seal clamps, except they are made in Europe. They have a smooth underside and band edge to provide the best fit possible. They are very strong and because of their four piece construction, they can be used more many purposes.
· Hi-Torque Clamps: These are undoubtedly the toughest worm-drive clamps on the market. They are four times stronger than any clamp made and are made of 100% stainless steel for corrosion resistance.
· Constant-Torque Clamps: These are unlike other hose clamps in that they have a pressure compensating clamping system. They are made of heavy-duty construction to prevent leaks when tightened. They also are made to self-adjust when the need arises.
· T-Bolt Clamps: The t-bolt clamp is very strong and is available in standard or with a spring for constant tension. You can get them in all kinds of sizes.
· V-Band Couplings: If you have a flanged joint, this type of clamp would work better. It comes in three types: standard, custom diameter, and V segments. You also have a choice of either a worm-gear or T-Bolt design. Once you put it on and clamp it down, it guarantees not to allow any leakage.
· Liner Clamps: The liner clamp comes with an inner lining that protects most hoses while it seals the hose from leaks. It comes in sizes of ½”, 9/16”, and 5/8”. It is also made of four-piece Quadra-Lock construction for those heavy-duty industrial uses.
· BAND-IT Jr. Smooth I.D. Clamp: This is a newer industrial hose clamp that is stiffer, thinner, and made of thermoplastics to replace the older type rubber hose clamps.
