» What is a faucet?
A faucet is a device that controls the amount of water that comes out of the pipes of your home. It is usually associated with a sink or a bathtub. Water comes into your home through pipes located beneath your house. Faucets have a plug inside of them that stops the water from coming out until you turn the handle. The handle is attached to a stick that is attached to the plug and raises it until the water comes out of the spout. The water is under pressure so that when you turn on the faucet, the water rushes out.
Water pressure can be controlled by your faucet, depending upon how much you turn it. If you turn the faucet only slightly, the handle raises the plug slightly so a slow stream of water comes out. The more you turn the handle, the wider the hole gets, and the more water rushes out.
