» How to Install a Bathroom Faucet
You purchased the bathroom faucet and brought it home. Now comes the time to install it. If you are a plumber, or are handy with plumbing tools, installation will be easy. If not, you will need some help. Hopefully instructions will come with the faucet. Whether or not it does, here are some tips on how to install the faucet:
· Remove the old faucet by turning the water off. There should be a shut-off valve on the pipe leading up from the floor.
· Take a basin wrench and remove the nuts that connect the supply tube to the faucet tailpieces. Remove the rest of the hardware and lift the old faucet out.
· Before installing new faucet, clean the surface where the new faucet will go. After you are sure the surface area is clean and dry, insert the rubber gasket so it lies between the faucet’s base plate and the sink top. If the kit did not come with a gasket, seal it with plumber’s putty.
· After putting either the gasket or putty in place, put the tailpieces in place through the sink top.
· After everything is in place, thread a washer and mounting nut on each tailpiece from underneath. Then tighten.
At this time connect both the faucet’s hot and cold supply tubes. Tighten all nuts and turn on the water. Test for leaks.
