» How Does a Faucet Work
Before you should even attempt to put bathroom faucet together, you should know how they work. If you know something about them it will make your work a little easier because you’ll understand what each part is and what it’s purpose it.
Although faucets come in many types, colors, and styles, there are just four types of mechanisms that make them work: cartridge, compression, ball and disc. The cartridge, ball, and disc faucets are referred to as mixing faucets. These normally come in a single handle or control. The compression faucet usually has two controls.
Compression-type faucets are built with washers or seals that close against a valve seat to restrict water flow. The cartridge, ball, or disc does not use washers to close the valve.
