Well now isn't this just sad?

The Humane Society in Lynchburg, Virginia says it's been taking in more pets. In April, the shelter says it took in more than 150 household pets alone.

Shelter workers say they are being told that rising gas prices have forced people to choose between buying gasoline and keeping their pets.

Workers are hoping for extra donations to help take care of the animals.
