Another heat warning/reminder.
Pets may need special protection from the extreme heat expected to descend on Nebraska this weekend.
Veterinarian Shawn Finch at Banfield Pet Hospital says pets shouldn't be outside for longer than 30 minutes in extreme heat.
Finch also says owners should go outside with pets or watch them through a window to make sure they are OK.
The rest of the time, keep them in air conditioning or by a fan. Also, make sure they drink a lot of water.
If it's this dangerous in Nebraska, I don't know how pets are even surviving in the South. Come to think of it, I don't know how people are surviving in the South. Perhaps we should just declare a moratorium on any living thing inhabiting the southern states. I don't think many people there would mind.
