Whilst you are staying in Trujillo you should stay and taste some of the fresh seafood that is commonly created in various dishes throughout this Northern city and apart from the traditional dish ceviche, there are many other great dishes that await you in one of the several restaurants in the area.
One restaurant that you will find in downtown Trujillo is El Mochica. This is one restaurant that is quite large in size and it always surprises everyone that visits because the decoration internally and externally is completely different and whilst it looks slightly out of place, you are guaranteed an excellent dining experience and with a second room with bar, there is a variety of live music that is played at weekends.
You will receive a warm welcome and excellent service and if you are feeling brave then you will find guinea pig on the menu which is a traditional feast within the country. If this is not to your liking then you will find a choice of grilled meats and fresh fish like corvine (sea bass)
The restaurant/bar is open from 8pm to 1am and reservation are recommended if you want to take advantage of some of the live music because it is always a busy during the holiday season and with main courses ranging from just $2 to $7 you are in for a treat.
