The religion in Peru is a direct inheritance of the Spanish conquest and as a result, it is a mainly catholic country which the total figures comes to more than 90% of the total population (27 million people) and the remaining majority is made up of a small Protestant population.
When you visit Peru for the first time then you will find that 54% of the population is Indian, 32% Mestizo (mixed European and Indian descent), 12% Spanish decent and 2% Black or Asian minority.
