• There is one place of natural beauty that comes highly recommended as part of a vacation and that is a trip to the Parque Nacional de Cutervo. It is one the oldest known national park dating back to 1,961 B.C. The surrounding caves are home to a bird called the Guacharo (Steatornis Caripensis) and you will find that this rare bird is only seen throughout Peru and some parts of Venezuela. An amazing opportunity waits because the most popular cave known as Cueva de San Andres found in the Cordillera de Tarros Mountains in s a mixture of clear brooks and breathtaking ravines. Spread over 2,500 hectares of land, you will find many other species that range from bats, bears, owls, frogs and other varieties of birds (most frequently the pava de monte). You can reach the area by foot and it is said to go between the months of May and October – the dry season where you can expect average temperatures of 13 degrees.
• For an opportunity to see one of the most beautiful and natural wonders in the area then make sure you pay a visit to the popular Colco Canyon. The Canyon is often said to be twice the height and depth of America’s Grand Canyon and is the home of Andean Condors (Vultur gryphus) – one of the rarer birds to populate the area where you can watch them soar just above the water’s surface when hunting for fish – this commonly occurs in mid afternoon so it is something you don’t want to miss. You will find the Canyon towards the southern part of the country, it measures in 10,725 feet (3,269 meters) and you will find that the name Colco is derived from the Inca culture as it refers to the small holes you may see in the cliffs, this is where food and crops were stored and for more important figureheads were occasionally used as tombs.
• If you are a lover of fine art whether it is from a well known famous artist or a local from different places in the world then you will want to visit the Borkas Art Gallery located close to Miraflores. It is a little bit on the small side but there is a vast number of sculptures and great paintings that have been created by the locals and there are several famous names you may end up recognising. This is one area that really shows that Peruvian’s citizens have loved their art for many centuries and when you visit the gallery, this major passion will make a great visit. It is open from 5pm to 9pm Monday to Saturday and there is an opportunity to purchase some of the art being showcased at the Borkas in the Miraflores neighbourhood.
