Most people have about 100,000 hairs on their entire head, and each one of those hairs has the opportunity to either be healthy or unhealthy. Each shaft has three parts – the outside layer, called the cuticle, and two inner layers. In order for hair to be and appear healthy, these layers must be healthy. And the way you take care of your hair from the moment it emerges onto your head from the root will determine how healthy it is and looks.

Shiny hair is not only a coveted feature; it is also a sign of healthy hair. When the hair is healthy, the scales on a cuticle overlap tightly and lie flat on your head, causing light to be reflected. If the hair becomes damages, the scales separate, and the hair dries. This, if untreated, causes the hair to break and look dull. Also, hair has natural oil called sebum in it. And this oil is good, healthy, and causes shine. So when using shampoos, you don’t want to pick a brand that will remove all of this oil and shine from your hair; it’s there to protect the hair.
