Depending on the type of hair you have and your lifestyle, there are certain ways that you can use your shampoo to protect and strengthen your hair. When choosing and using shampoo, consider these things:

·        What your hair is like. If your hair is curly or dry, you are going to need to treat your hair differently than you would fine and straight hair. No matter what type it is, be careful with it when it’s wet; it’s very fragile. You should also purchase a mild shampoo if you are going to be washing your hair every day, even if it’s oily; if you have very dry hair, don’t shampoo it every day. And think most about the ends of the hair, not the roots, when it comes to shampoo types. Shampoo made for oily hair will be too harsh on dry ends.
·        What you like to do. If you play sports, are out in the sun a lot, or often swim, these things will drastically affect your hair. Consider your many activities and whether they dry out or “grease up” your hair. Once again, if you are exposed to weather or other things that dry out your hair, you will not want to shampoo every day, and you should use a shampoo that is gentle with your hair.
·        How you style your hair. The products you use as well as the straighteners, hair dryers, and other styling devices you employ will dramatically affect your hair, even if it’s usually oily.   Also, your hair will be influenced by the chemicals that you apply to your hair – whether it’s coloring, perming, or relaxing. It is important that you find shampoos that specifically address these needs of your hair.

There are also a few tips you should know about the process of shampooing your hair. First of all, lather only once unless your hair is exceptionally dirty. Also, focus on the scalp and let the suds run down the rest of your hair.  The roots will usually be drier than the rest of your hair.   Don’t scrub your hair, either; it is very delicate when it’s wet. Finally, rinse the shampoo out completely, or else your hair may lose its shine.
