How to Properly Apply Eye Makeup

When you have the eye makeup that you want and are ready to start putting it on, it is important to use good makeup application technique. Everyone has their own individual style, and most people like to do certain things certain ways; however, your eye makeup regime should look something like this:

• Use a light layer of foundation all around your eyes, especially on the lids. A thin layer will give the eye makeup something to hold to as well as covering any imperfections.
• If your eye shadow is a powder, set your lids with a loose powder first.
• Dust or cream the entire eyelid area (from the lashline to the browbone) with one shadow – your lightest one.
• Gently apply a medium shade in the creaseline, extending slightly beyond the crease. This will add depth and contour.
• For more drama, use a medium to deep tone above the upper lashline and a smudge under the lower lashline in short downward strokes.
• Use a large eye shadow brush to dust the entire eye area with loose face powder, which will blend the color and set it.
• Using your eyeliner, start at the inside corner of the eye, and draw a thin line all the way out on your lashlines. Either do this all at once or in short strokes.
• If you curl your lashes, do it now – before mascara has been applied.
• Turn the mascara brush in the container a few times and pull it out (pumping it will dry out the mascara).
• Gently and evenly brush your lashes away from your face. After one thin coat dries, apply another.
• If there are any problems with clumping, use an eyelash comb to separate your beautiful lashes.
