A bit of blush on your cheeks brings radiance and glow to your face. When choosing a blush color, it is best to try to match your lipstick. If your skin is sallow, choose a pink or rosy blush color. Do not choose a color that has too much red in it or you will look sunburned. Always remember that less is best. You simply want to look as if you are blushing. To tone down blush, apply a bit of powder over the blush to soften the look. Choose the type of blush best suited to your particular skin type. A cream blush is better for dry skin and powder blush works best for oily skin. To add glow without adding color, use a bronzing powder instead of blush on your cheeks.
Take the following steps to add color to your cheeks:
• Apply foundation and powder before applying your blush.
• Use a full, round brush to apply powder blushes.
• Dip your brush into a small amount of blush and gently tap off the excess.
• Looking into the mirror, draw an imaginary line downwards from the center of the eye. This is the furthest point bush should be applied on your cheek.
• Smile into the mirror and place the blush on the apple of your cheek, gently brushing upwards along your cheekbone towards the hairline.
• If using a cream blush, dot at the apple of your cheek and blend upwards along the cheekbone to the hairline.
• Keep the blush high on the cheekbones and away from your nose.
• If you have applied too much, soften with a little loose powder.
