Day 3 - History, boat ride and a market

Home » Pennsylvania » Travel to Philadelphia - 7 Day Itinerary » Day 3 - History, boat ride and a market

Start your day with a fun tour of the city, called Ride the Ducks. This is a land and water tour that takes you past historic Philadelphia in a bus and then transforms into a boat at the Penn’s Landing, splashing into the Delaware River for an enjoyable ride. After you have ridden the ducks, head back to the historic district to the Franklin Court area. In this one area, you will visit the United States Postal Service Museum, The Franklin Print Shop, and the Franklin Museum, which is housed underground under the spot where his home used to stand. You will discover many fascinating artifacts about the life of Benjamin Franklin.

After lunch, the next stop is the Reading Terminal Market, which is the nation’s oldest continuously operating farmers' market, located at 12th and Arch Streets in downtown Philadelphia.   You will be greeted by an exhilarating array of baked goods, meats, poultry, seafood, produce, flowers, and Asian, Middle Eastern, and Pennsylvania Dutch foods. Most of the stands are family-run. You can enjoy nearly every type of cuisine imaginable here. There is also a section that is supplied by local Amish vendors.
