Types of Wind Chimes

It has been said that on a hot summer day just the sound from a wind chime can automatically make you feel cooler. Because if the chime is moving it means the wind is blowing. The following are some of the different types of wind chimes.

 

·        Outdoor Wind Chimes: Many people choose to hang their wind chimes outdoors. They feel that they can better appreciate the sounds the chime makes if it is out in the wind.

·        Indoor Wind Chimes: Wind chimes that people hang inside usually tend to be smaller than those hung outdoors. They also tend to be made with materials that make soft sounds. There are also indoor wind chimes that come with a battery operated base that the chime is hung over. The base has a small fan inside that simulates wind and blows the wind chime as it would if it were hung outdoors.

·        Musical Wind Chimes: Although all wind chimes make “music”, if made out of the right material wind chimes can actually play musical notes. These wind chimes are made out of metal pipes. Lead, copper, stainless steel, and tin are just a few of the metals used to make musical wind chimes. The metal tubes have to be certain lengths to make notes, usually less than 18 inches.

·        Homemade Wind Chimes: Do it your self wind chimes are the perfect project for creative people who love projects. Be inventive with your choice of chimes. You can use: forks, spoons, shells, plates, glasses, solid metal rods, or tools. Homemade wind chimes can be keepsakes when made out of sentimental items such as metals your child won, or even baby silverware and baby cups.  

·        Ornate Wind Chimes: Ornate wind chimes come in a variety of styles such as: birds, butterflies, dragon flies, dolphins, lady bugs, or animals. This type of wind chimes makes a wonderful gift.

·        Garden Wind Chimes: A wind chime is often what a garden is missing. Adding a wind chime to a garden can bring a peaceful feeling to a garden.

·        Theme Wind Chimes: There are several theme wind chimes available. Some of them include: airplanes, sporting themes, animals, cowboys, fruits, religious, angels, sailboats, light houses, and flowers. These are just a sample of the many themed wind chimes available.
