Patio furniture is available in every material and style imaginable and has two characteristics in common, durability and weather-resistance. When considering a patio furniture purchase, shopping for the best price while keeping in mind style preferences, where it will be used and by who will help you make the best decision possible.
All-plastic or treated metal furniture – This type is be when the patio is completely outdoors and has no cover or awning. This furniture resists rain, hot sunshine, and even snow. Less expensive molded plastic tables and chairs are available everywhere. The chairs are usually stackable come in a assortment of colors and styles.
Tubular metal furniture – This type is also popular but is more expensive than the plastic styles. However, it is also more durable and the chairs may be cushioned. The tables may have an umbrella in the center or have the option to add one later. They are available in many patterns and styles and can be purchased in a variety of places.
Wrought iron furniture – This type is very familiar to most and is also the most expensive. Wrought iron must be kept painted to ensure its weather resistance and that maintenance adds to its expense. Many different pieces are available, including chairs, love seats and tables. Its main advantage is that it is almost indestructible and can accommodate people of any size.
Wicker furniture – Although this is a popular choice in patio furniture, the patio needs to have some covering or be completely closed off from the elements. It is reasonably priced, lightweight, sturdy and attractive. It can be used in a natural color, but can also be spray painted to match your decor.
Wooden furniture – This type can be used outdoors, but weathers better if used on a patio with some cover. It has most of the same advantages as wicker, but is usually heavier and more durable.
