Should you decide your outdoor faucet is past the repairing stage; you may be able to replace the faucet yourself without the need of a plumber. To replace the faucet you will need the following tools:
• Screwdriver
• Adjustable wrench
• Pipe wrench
• Adjustable pliers
• Plumber’s tape
• Stiff-bristled brush

Take the following steps for replacing most faucets
:
• The most important step in replacing your faucet is to be certain that you shut off the water supply from the main water shut-off valve. Using an adjustable wrench, turn the valve 90 degrees by inserting a screwdriver through the hole in the handle of the wrench.
• Open the faucet and allow the water to completely drain.
• Remove the old faucet by tightly grabbing the pipe below the faucet with a pair of adjustable pliers. Tighten the pipe wrench around the faucet and twist until it comes off.
• Using a stiff brush you must clean the pipe threads.
• After cleaning the threads, wrap them with plumber’s tape starting at the base of the faucet and working upward.
• Install the new faucet, tightening by hand.
• After the faucet has been tightened as much as is possible by hand, wrap the new faucet with a towel to protect the finish and tighten fully using adjustable pliers.
