Cleaning the Grill

Every time you use your grill you should do some minimal cleaning. Clean off the cooking grates using a steel brush, and then use the brush to knock any items stuck to the inside of the lid or sides of the grill. If you are impatient and ready to eat, simply make a habit of brushing off your grill before the next time you grill.

Brushing your grill only takes a few seconds, but you will, on occasion, need to do a slightly more extensive cleaning. Once a year, take off the cooking grate and clean off the burner, or radiant, that covers the burners. Then, look closely for clogs in your grill’s control valves, venturi tubes, and burner holes. Your owner’s manual should give you instructions on the best way to check for clogs in your specific grill, as obstructions in any area can cause uneven heat and other, more serious, problems.

Finally, using soapy water, wash the inside and outside of the grill. Rinse the grill, and reassemble any parts you have removed. If you want, you can touch up the paint on your grill, but otherwise, you are ready to grill again.
