Where do I place my birdbath?

If it is possible, put your birdbath in plain view of a window so that you can see it clearly from inside your house. The more often you see your birdbath, the more you will enjoy it and the more often you will remember to clean it.

From a pragmatic standpoint, you should also place your birdbath within easy reach of a hose; otherwise, you are likely to put off cleaning your bath. In addition, set your birdbath on level ground so that it can easily stand up against the wind.

For the birds’ sake, place the birdbath away from bushes that could serve as a hiding place for predators. Do, however, put the birdbath underneath overhanging tree branches. Nearby tree branches provide an easy avenue of escape for wet birds fleeing predators.

Finally, if you want to provide a complete meal for the birds, place your birdbath near a bird feeder. Don’t put the bath directly under the feeder, but if you have food nearby, you will likely increase traffic at your bath. On the other hand, don’t place your birdbath near a birdhouse. Birds are unlikely to nest where there is a lot of commotion and noise, so your birdhouse will likely go uninhabited if it is near a birdbath.
